Lucky Grandma is a darkly comedic crime drama that blends sharp humor with heartfelt humanity. After a fortuneteller predicts a streak of good luck, Grandma sets out to change her fate—only to become entangled in the city’s criminal underworld after a bag of cash quite literally lands in her lap.

Directed by Sasie Sealy and co-written with Angela Cheng, the film premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, where it earned critical acclaim for its originality and wit. Tsai Chin’s commanding performance anchors the story with equal parts toughness and vulnerability, portraying a woman whose resilience and mischief make her both an unlikely hero and an unforgettable character.
